Verizon looks to take LTE to the Next Level

Verizon-WirelessIn the past, Verizon has dealt with capacity issues that have caused customers to be kicked back to 3G service. This concern has led to the recent deployment of XLTE which is built to balance their current 4G network with Advanced Wireless Services. In limited action, it has already show positive results in resolve capacity issue as well as improving upon current 4G speeds. Verizon has kept their promise of addressing capacity issues swiftly by already launching XLTE in over 250 markets across 44 states. Not only will this now prevent users from being dropped but could even create twice as fast speeds compared to the present 4G network.  In addition, XLTE also enables faster peak data speeds. "Our plan is always to anticipate and stay ahead of demand, and we're doing that with XLTE. Our promise of 5-12 Mbps (and 2-5 Mbps up) hasn't changed," said Verizon spokeswoman Debi Lewis. It was important for Verizon to address this issue as demand continues to climb quickly. Verizon has over 65% of their customers on the 4G network. Those same customers also consume more than double the amount of data used by 3G customers. They still have more work to do in addressing markets since they have only deployed XLTE in about half of their current markets (total markets go beyond 500). They are certainly committed to nationwide XLTE as they have already spent $9.4 billion on the rollout of 4G and XLTE. Verizon customers can take solace in the fact that Verizon is prepared to deal with capacity issues. It will not be surprising to see other carriers follow in the near future.
