TELUS makes Big Investment for Future Wireless in Canada

TELUS, one of the largest and fastest growing mobile network operators in Canada, is reaffirming their commitment to advancing wireless technology with an investment of over $1.3 billion. This 3 year plan will financially support new infrastructures and facilities in Quebec. This agreement is an extension of a previous plan that was made in 2012. TELUS was already committed for an investment of $640 million in 2014. Now they will be spending and additional $700 million in 2015 and 2016. TELUS wants to build an infrastructure that will provide the best experience and technology at home and work. Starting back to 2000, TELUS' investment in Quebec will ultimately exceed $20 billion. "Our technology investments mean better health care for patients, improved connection speeds for businesses and the best access to entertainment at home and on the road. Through our investments, TELUS will bring fibre optics to thousands of households in remote areas of Quebec, making the province one of the most connected places in the world.” said Francois Gratton, president of TELUS Quebec. TELUS will play a significant role in making upgrades and advancing services in Canada going forward.  Residents will be connected through Fibre optics for noticeably increased Internet speeds and capacity. Over 80% of the Quebec population will be expanded to the 4G LTE network in places such as Montreal, Quebec City, and Gaspésie. 700MHz spectrum will also be deployed in rural and urban areas for meeting the growing demands for wireless data while enhancing speed, coverage and reliability.
