Sprint and Qualcomm driving Small Cells for NASCAR Raceways

nascar-logoStart your engines! NASCAR Stadiums have left the starting gate to join the competition of growing venues that are now utilizing small cell coverage. For a sport that generates over 100,000 people for each event, small cells will be very effective in meeting mobile demands. These networks designed to advance coverage in a small concentrated area are in the process of being installed courtesy of Sprint and Qualcomm. They are meant to aide low performance results in high demand areas. The fact is that a concentration on smaller areas helps to handle demands on a greater scale by breaking audiences into fragments. However, without carriers taking the next step of addressing these targeted networks, dead zones are going to continue. This is where Sprint can play a pivotal role in contributing to LTE service. This process has been going through multiple phases to make sure small cells function impeccably. In March, there was an event at the Phoenix International Raceway that served as a trial of a LTE TDD hyper-dense small cell networks. Prior to the event, Qualcomm deployed 31 small cell base stations in the garage area in order to assess density restrictions, regulate network performance proficiencies and determine the effect on mobile user’s experiences. The experimental results confirmed significant capacity improvements with hyper-dense small cell networks in comparison to previously existing large area cellular technology. The demand at any large venue event is always sky high but Raceways are famous for packing in the highest amounts of people. It is to be expected that most of these people want the ability to share their experience and stay connected with people who are not at the event. Increasing reliability and speed will create a better overall experience for NASCAR fans. Small cells have become a critical part of mobile strategy for many large venues and NASCAR racetracks are catching up with the pack. Launch 3 Telecom can provide Qualcomm equipment as well as equipment used by Sprint in their network.
