This call to action comes adjacently to the release of the new MLB Ballpark app. This app will complement and personalize fan’s trip to the game with My Journal, social media, offers, rewards and exclusive content. It also allows season ticket holders to have their tickets and e-cash digitally stored. MLB views this as a method bringing younger, more tech savvy fans to the ballpark.
Most of these sports leagues have realized the opportunity that comes with enabling wireless throughout their stadiums. This opens up the ability for free advertising as people take pictures and post comments frequently when in attending a game.
"Seventy-four million people walk through a Major League Baseball turnstile every year, and another 40 in the minor leagues," said Bob Bowman. "You want to know who those people are."
As a preview during Spring Training, we saw glimpses of wireless expansion at Minor League Complexes.
