Spring Valley is located in California and has decided – in recent months – to construct a cell tower that will effectively bring coverage to the Spring Valley residents. They have all been waiting on a cell tower for a long time due to a lack of proper network coverage for a couple years now. In 2012, the area was negatively affected by the Walker and Wye fires, which occurred east of Clearlake Oaks, a neighboring area. The fire damaged major phone lines throughout the community. When Spring Valley residents were voting on the construction of a cell tower, 98% voted yes, due to the poor coverage. This was a shock to town officials and committee members. Usually there are residents who strongly oppose it, but everyone seemed to be on board. This 4G cell tower, to be built at 2589 Indian Hill Road, will be designed to look like a water tower and is being installed by Verizon.
Even though Verizon is building the tower, AT&T will also use it to provide needed coverage. Spring Valley residents and officials have been anticipating this for quite some time now. Not only is the Spring Valley cell tower going to improve the town’s network coverage, but also it is the start of bigger movement to update service in the Highway 20 corridor. Though the new Spring Valley tower will improve service immensely, the area will still need more towers to ensure proper network coverage.
