Light at the End of the Tower

EA3974-001Have you ever been driving down the highway late at night and see a flashing light off in the distance? As you got closer, you probably realized it was a cell tower. But why are they equipped with brightly colored flashing lights? The answer to this question is quite simple. These lights are referred to as Aviation Warning Light which helps air traffic to identify tall cell towers. The FAA requires all cell towers with a height of over 200 feet to have a red strobe light installed for air traveling at night. During the day, the FAA requires all towers over 400 feet to have a white strobe light. These heights have been predetermined by the FAA as dangerous to air navigation and help to warn airplane pilots of towers in the area. It would be highly unusual to see a tower flashing red during the day or flashing white at night. This rule is not exclusive to cell towers but any structure that reaches these heights. These warning lights must be logged daily unless they have automatic alarm systems that identify failure. They are also sophisticated enough to adjust automatically in relation to the sky through a control device. Launch 3 Telecom provides 3G and 4G LTE network equipment used in a cell tower build by manufacturers such as AndrewRFSEricssonAlcatel-Lucent. We also provide cell tower services such as installation, decommissioning, maintenance, and repair.
