Verizon and Cellcrypt Create a New Encrypted Voice Service

Are you ever worried that your daily phone calls are being wiretapped by other companies?  This may be a quick and easy solution.  The leading service carrier, Verizon Wireless, has joined forces with Cellcrypt, a wireless encryption firm in order to create an innovative service new to the industry, Voice Cypher.  It is geared towards the government and other large enterprises who have a history of invading companies and the public’s privacy. 

Voice Cypher will provide Verizon subscribers with end-to-end encryption for iOS, Android, and BlackBerry voice calls.  It operates by using Verizon’s LTE service, Wi-Fi, and satellite networks. Cellcrypt is providing the encryption side of technology, and Verizon the network service connections and customers. Voice Cypher would be a technology on people’s smartphones that allows them to keep their voice communication private using a special app.

However, given an appropriate reason, the government and law agencies will be able to access communication had over Voice Cypher.  Verizon and Cellcrypt ensure the new service’s security.  Random companies will not be able to access your information shared over Voice Cypher.  The government however will be able to, only if there is a serious cause for investigation. People are worried because they feel their communication is not secure and their privacy has been taken away. 

Though Voice Cypher was made wiretap-able, communication is still secure.  By law, carriers must create networks in a way that they can be wiretapped if necessary. At the end of the day, Voice Cypher is helping companies to keep their private, important information hidden from other companies or government agencies that are snooping or potentially engaging in espionage.  This was all influenced by past NSA incidents.  Both Verizon and Cellcrypt hope to one day extend this privacy service to the general consumer so everyone can feel safe in their daily phone communication.
