Verizon VoLTE Nearing Release

verizon volteAfter successful unveilings by AT&T and T-Mobile, Verizon is the next mobile carrier to provide subscribers with VoLTE. This service will provide clearer HD-quality phone call audio as well as a video chat service with clear picture imaging. Although Verizon was not the first carrier to provide VoLTE, they have been enabling customer phones with this capability for over a year in preparation for rolling out this service. The only other effort that a customer will need to put in is downloading the software from their mobile device.
"The tight integration of the video calling feature is also significant. You can launch it right from the dialer. There's no opening a separate app." said Greg Dial, executive director of mobile services at Verizon.
The HD voice calls also make for clearer sound than the CDMA 1X calls that have been used in the past. As Verizon works to improve this service further, VoLTE could eventually evolve with additional services of video sharing, chat functionality, and file transfers. For those concerned about how the change will affect their billing, the HD call minutes count the same as typical phone call minutes. A video call will also use around 6-8 MB of data per minute in a call. With the exception of Sprint, the nation’s leading carriers have all made moves toward VoLTE. While AT&T is only in limited markets, T-Mobile and Verizon are providing this service on a nationwide level. Customers of these carriers can now look forward to better HD voice quality and in-call embedded video services. Launch 3 Telecom can provide equipment used by Verizon to improve their network.
