From gaining John Legere as CEO and President in 2012 to their failed merger with AT&T, T-Mobile has experienced many ups and downs throughout the past few years. John Legere’s entrance into the company helped to boost almost every aspect of T-Mobile. The fallout of their intended merger had presumably left T-Mobile IT systems in bad shape. T-Mobile was operating six major IT systems. However, since then it has integrated all six IT systems into just one operating system. This was their first step towards a major improvement.
T-Mobile has now announced that they are switching their backend IT systems from an Amdocs Business Support System to Ericsson’s pre-integrated OSS/BSS software suite. T-Mobile signed a long-term managed services agreement with Ericsson that will now update all of its billing and IT processes. This includes its charging, order management catalog, and its customer relationship management (CRM) for all T-Mobile and MetroPCS customers. It will all be unified under Ericsson’s new IT system and will help T-Mobile to quickly increase their customer satisfaction.
Ericsson’s senior Vice President, Per Borgklint, says that this new system will give customers real-time billing visibility and control over their account service charges by logging onto some version of a self-care portal.
Borgklint states, “We are implementing an end-to-end suite, which enables you to evolve from being fairly static to an elastic stack where you can start to create automated processes.”
T-Mobile will continue to enhance many of their services in the near future, such as possible new pricing plans and tablet data offers. Ericsson is bringing T-Mobile the change they needed.
