Cisco Technology Helps Andorra Wi-Fi for the Future

Andorra Telecom has been working on improving their Wi-Fi service and coverage in their country, with the help of Cisco technology.  Their goal was to generally enhance the Wi-Fi networks of their residential clients. However, those goals expanded into increasing coverage and offerings in order to supply sufficient service to tourists who visit the country.  This technology will hopefully draw people to their country, knowing they will have established public Wi-Fi.  Cisco’s technology incorporated into Andorra Telecom’s Wi-Fi plan could also make Andorra a more appealing place for businesses to establish locations. Andorra Telecom’s new public Wi-Fi network is based on the complete Cisco Service Provider (SP) Wi-Fi platform.  This platform offers high-quality mobile experience to users and forms part of the Cisco Small Cell portfolio.  This new Andorra Wi-Fi includes aid from Cisco Prime, Cisco Quantum Policy Suite, Cisco Connected Mobile Experience (CMX) platform with ThinkSmart and more. Cisco and Andorra, together, have created a great new development for Andorra.  They now have a Wi-Fi network that has two levels of service for both residential clients within Andorra and high-quality Premium Internet access, including Web page, instant messaging, and voice-over-IP, for all tourists. The Director of Sales and Operations at Cisco Espana for Service Providers, Santiago Lopez, stated, “Cisco technology, combined with the vision and commitment of Andorra Telecom, offers residents and visitors in Andorra a mobile experience of the highest quality, by converting the Wi-Fi network into a technology with a similar functionality to that of cellular networks.” Cisco is helping Andorra Telecom to get a step ahead of their potential users and prepare them for what may come their way in the future.  Andorra Telecom is also planning on eventually expanding this Wi-Fi network to places of interest within their country, such as hotels and shopping malls.
