4G Vs. 5G

4g5gAs you browse the web for current events in the telecommunications industry, you will often see articles and product advertisements for both 4G and 5G.  We know that 4G is well established in most places and is being integrated in areas that are being upgrading to current technological trends.  So if we are not completely done with 4G, why do we need 5G?  Though 4G still has room for growth, our world’s consumers have growing demands as well.
4G technology is an improvement of 3G networks, along with its equivalent, LTE.  4G uses multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) and orthogonal frequency division multiplex (OFDM) to differentiate themselves from 3G.  4G offers faster network speed and the ability to allow multiple users to share the same channel. 4G is quickly covering our nation and is being deployed as you read this. 4G is the technology of today and 5G is the technology of tomorrow.
5G is currently being researched and developed. Companies worldwide are racing to the finish line, hoping they finish before everyone else. 5G will hopefully have a 1000 times increase in capacity, lower than 1 millisecond latency, up to 10 gigabits per second speeds, and full network support for over 100 billion connections. 5G will use cloud RAN and virtual RAN designed infrastructure in order to centralize their networks through the use of localized data centers. 5G technology will automatically choose its channels and alter itself to fit certain situation. 5G is the technology of the suture. Fortunately, the future is coming quickly.
Launch 3 Telecom provides 4G networks equipment and services to companies and nations worldwide. As 5G continues to be developed by companies like Ericsson and Nokia, Launch 3 is eagerly awaiting the chance to offer 5G network hardware to their customers. If interested in buying or selling network equipment or services, please contact Launch 3 Telecom at 877-878-9134, or email us at sales@launch3.net.

GSM Coming to an End

NY09016B (25)Like most technology that has been followed by newer and more advanced technology, GSM is soon to be on its way out. Many carriers have already determined an end date for their GSM networks. Ultimately, the next 5 years could see the death of GSM networks.
Despite how many people have moved on to LTE, there are a lot of devices that still function on 2G networks. In fact, there are over 160 million devices connected to GSM as of the beginning of 2015. The majority of Machine-to-Machine devices are still functioning on the GSM network for transmission needs. This is due to longer lasting usage required than a cellphone would need.
Obviously, GSM networks have stopped being a significant part of mobile service long ago. The elimination of 2G will have very little impact on customers. As for machine connections, the plan would be to replace these obsolete 2G networks with 3G and 4G networks.
More operators have been announcing their plans to close up shop for GSM. AT&T, Telestra, and operators in Singapore have announced end dates for the end of 2016 and beginning of 2017. Meanwhile, there are European operators and carriers that are taking their time as they see roaming as profitable.
It is apparent that GSM is approaching its end. Launch 3 has legacy equipment that utilizes GSM network technology in our inventory. We also have modern infrastructure that supports 3G and 4G LTE. For more information about our equipment and services, please contact 877-878-9134 or email sales@launch3.net.

Cisco Commits $10 Billion to High Tech in China

ciscoCisco and China have had a rocky relationship recently. In an effort to repair this partnership, Cisco plans to invest $10 Billion to further progress the high-tech market in China. Having a large share of the market in China is important to the success of Cisco’s business.
China is quickly becoming one the biggest networking gear markets in the industry. Although Cisco has been doing business there for over 20 years, the company has been slipping in popularity. This could be due to a variety of reasons. First, Cisco was accused of allowing the NSA secretly to use their routers for spyware. Additionally, more homegrown competitors have emerged in China such as Huawei and ZTE.
Cisco has been feeling the effects of this situation as their sales are down 20% in China compared to last year. Such a substantial investment will hopefully energize the market to turn to Cisco for networking gear.
“With these new partnerships and initiatives, Cisco is investing in the next generation of Chinese technology innovation, helping capture the opportunities presented by digitization and committing Cisco resources to ensure success together,” said Chuck Robbins, Cisco Chief Executive.
Time will tell whether this renewed commitment will help Cisco restore its previous success. Due to the Chinese government being aware of NSA activity and the U.S. instructing telecom companies to not use equipment from Huawei or ZTE, it will certainly be a long road back. The encouraging part is that steps are being taken to repair this issue. It is important for the Chinese  and U.S. government to reconcile if Cisco is to experience any future growth in China.
Launch 3 Telecom is a distributor of network equipment from manufacturers such as Cisco. For more information about our products and services, please contact us at 877-878-9134 or email sales@launch3.net.

3M makes Deal to Purchase Capital Safety

3M_Logo_-_RGB_Pro_Size3M has made a major deal of $2.5 billion to acquire Capital Safety. Capital Safety has become one of the most prominent global leaders in fall protection and has been owned by KKR since 2011. This is a strategic advantage for 3M as the market for protective equipment continues to flourish. This transaction marks the largest acquisition executed by 3M and will make safety an even bigger factor in the success of their company.
Both sides will see a benefit from the deal. Capital Safety is enthusiastic about the strategic fit that creates a platform for future growth. Meanwhile, 3M is adding to a business that already makes $32 billion in sales and have 90,000 employees. They will likely see an addition of 12 cents per share in their earnings as a result.
“Personal safety is a large and strategically important growth business in the 3M portfolio,” said Inge Thulin, 3M chairman, president and CEO. “The acquisition of Capital Safety bolsters our personal safety platform and will build on our fundamental strengths in technology, manufacturing, global capabilities and brand.”
3M has been involved with safety solutions for a while now. They were supplying respiratory and hearing protection equipment for workers. Working with Capital Safety will allow them to broaden their safety business into other areas such as protective clothing and eyewear. They are also acquiring a company that has demonstrated consistent growth over the past 4 years.
According to Frank Little, Executive VP for 3M Safety and Graphics Business Group, "3M's brand in personal protective equipment, combined with our global capability, will provide a broader array of products and solutions to both Capital Safety's and 3M's customers."

The Small IoT Gets Bigger

ericsson iotEricsson has just made an agreement with Korea’s SK Telecom to further develop technology for the “Internet of Small Things” (IoT).  They are specifically going to work on deploying “machine-to-machine technology that will enable various wireless and wired systems to communication with each other as well as other devices.
Most people are currently using LTE networks, allowing massive data to move extremely fast. Once the IoT is fully integrated in our world, SKT and Ericsson agreed to create new technology capable of supporting low-speed kilobyte devices that will soon all be connected. Not only will it lower costs of IoT devices, but it will also strengthen pre-existing LTE networks. By getting rid of extra antennas and broadband frequency signals, both SKT and Ericsson will slim down the technology, focusing on the most important and needed functions.
In regards to the future of Small IoT, Per Navinger, The Head of LTE Products at Ericsson, stated, "The network for low-cost and low-powered devices will create new business opportunities, and at the same time, it will improve people's lifestyle.” Together, these two companies can create technology and systems that will improve small aspects of everyday life.
Launch 3 Telecom works with leading manufactures like Ericsson to support the technology of the future. Telecommunication is a fast evolving industry and Ericsson’s has the ability to set the latest trends. If interested in buying or selling our equipment or services, please contact Launch 3 Telecom at 877-878-9134, or email us at sales@launch3.net.
